After honing his storytelling and directing skills in New York City’s downtown theater scene, Jesse moved into film production in 2003. Jesse’s first film, the documentary “At The Green Line,” was filmed on location in Israel and Palestine, and explored the moral conflicts of Israeli soldiers stationed in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The film won the “Best Film: Conflict and Resolution Award” at the Hamptons International Film Festival and “Best Documentary Film” at the Vancouver Documentary Festival. Jesse’s latest documentary, “Movement One”, captures the creative process of Emmy- Nominated choreographer Teddy Forance as he creates a character-driven site-specific dance performance with twenty three dancers in just eight days. The film was released on iTunes in early December. As a narrative filmmaker, Jesse has directed (with co-director Brent Bonacorso) the awardwinning CGI-live action hybrid short film “Now and Nowhere,” a surreal take on a man whose life is literally disappearing all around him. His most recent short film, the mind-bending sci-fi love story “Record/Play,” has been blazing a trail across the festival circuit, picking up awards at Fantastic Fest, BET Urbanworld, Paris Fantastic Film Fest, and NYC ShortsFest. Record Play was recently featured on the “Viewfinder List”, a list of the years best shorts voted on by studio executives and independent producers. In 2013, Record/Play will compete at Sundance, and a feature film adaptation is in the works. Also in 2012, Jesse produced, edited, and co-wrote the feature doc “Children Rise,” narrated by Charlize Theron and scheduled to premiere at film festivals in 2013. The film follows two homeless teens through six years of life on the streets of Durban, South Africa. In addition to his directing and writing credits, Jesse is an established editor of numerous number one music videos and high profile commercials.
